Why I travel

In Japan people don’t small talk. Not too many speak english. The country is chill. It forces you to slow down and be quiet. Thats one thing I love about travel, it forces you to be alone, quiet, still, introspective. Sometimes you just gotta tell yourself to shut up, be in your thoughts. I dont do the sim cards so when i’m outside of the hostel/hotel I can’t get on my phone to shake the silence.

It forces me to take in all the new forms of stimuli. The way people dress and why, why certain restaurants in India are still in business when they have zero customers, why the public transportation in Paris can get you anywhere with no issues, why the children in Dubai are so free, why men in Cairo don’t look me in the eye. Etc etc. Being in my thoughts is my happy place. In highschool I would sit alone in the highly populated “quad” and just watch people. Yes you get called “weirdo” and people think your awkward but these are the moments that set one apart from the masses.

1am in Rome, eating street pizza, walking past a street of gay bars, 3 minutes ago having taken pictures of the colosseum after a half day in Florence. Man travel is fun. Its interesting. I feel like the more I travel, the more patient I become. Patient with myself and with others.

$2500 can get you 12 days and 2 to 3 countries. The problems you see in America become smaller when you go to India and see how people live. The people you meet abroad all have stories that are stimulating. There are no bad vibes from them, all smiles and open minds.
