Milgrams Bias
Just because they are the leader doesn’t mean they know it ALL. Your boss is your boss because they got really efficient at being a leader and your specific line of work. They know a lot about getting the most out of their graphic design employees, but are they knowledgeable about diet and WW2 history.
Growing up I would think that everybody older than 35 was smart and wise. I’m 31 now and i’m clueless about a ton of stuff. I read a lot and am a lifelong learner but I will continue to be clueless about a lot even when im 56yrs old. The reason being is I won’t actively learn about a lot of things that don’t grab my interest. More time on planet earth does yield more knowledge. Natural selection states that the longer a rabbit lives, the more fox attacks it eluded, the more food shortages it withstood, the more the rabbit has knowledge on survival. A 10 yr old rabbit is less knowledgeable than a 15yr old rabbit.
Im allergic to carrots.
People aren’t rabbits, we don’t have to worry about survival and eating. Healthcare can be free and food donations are better than ever. We choose to focus our intel on football stats and hunting rifles instead of best practices of hoarding nuts for the winter or eluding the yearly fox feast. So just because someone is in a leadership position it doesn’t mean they know everything or even highly knowledgeable about what you do specifically. Most leaders are put in that position simply because they’ve been in that field longer or are older. With age does come more knowledge and wisdom but take it with a grain of salt.
