Why Stoicism should be a thing in 2017.

I got the tip on Stoicism a few years ago from Tim Ferris. Whenever i read, i get lead to other reading material. he spoke on Stocism being a hack for not being shaken by events in life. In everyone’s life things will happen but it is how we react to them is what determines the type of person we are.

I read Seneca, Epictetus, Money Marcus Aurilius, and a few other Stoic texts. I consider myself a Christian who subscribes to the Stoic Philosophy. Stoicism mainly states that one should only focus on what one can control.

Ive read before that people adopt a philosophy that closely identifies with what they already are. I would say that i dont waver much. Bad things happen and i dont freak out or blow a lid. Ive never been in a fist fight. Have eradicated profanity from my vocabulary since 2012. In the 8th grade i was voted the friendliest. With all that said i feel like i can endure high and low times without showing too much or any emotion at all. So Stoicism fits me well. I just like how it is laid out really plain and simple within the stoic texts for me to consume and sharpen my even-keel demeanor.

I think it is a huge plus for entrepreneurs. Bank account at zero, employee no-call no-no show, shipment coming a day late, and you wouldnt even know im going through a rough patch.

I honestly think that if the world taught kids Stoicism there would be less bullying, road rage, depression and anxiety and self-image issues. Only focus on stuff you can control. If someone cuts you off in traffic, cool beans. If someone says your price is too high, cool beans.

Stoics delay gratitude. We do the hard stuff today so tomorrow we can chill.

Still on a journey but this Stoicism philosophy is making it a lot easier to deal with the ups and downs of life. Trump wins, cool beans. Lets win.
